The Science of Surveillance: Every Smile You Fake

Concordia University is pleased to announce the second annual President's Conference Series entitled Every Breath You Take. The three sessions will present exciting research by Concordia faculty on the complex social, political and technological relationship between individual privacy and public security. Join us for a day of discovery!

 

Second session

Professor John Capobianco of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and Professor Ching Y. Suen of the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering will present the science behind surveillance technologies such as nanoparticles and facial, retina, fingerprint, and handwriting recognition. Professor Kim Sawchuk of the Department of Communication Studies will address prevalent representations of surveillance technologies and the implications of these understandings for public policy and everyday life.
